For more than 20 years already, HEY-SIGN has been taking care of the grandiose comeback of the traditional material wool felt. This probably oldest textile material in the history of mankind only had a niche existence when Bernadette Ehmanns and Mathias Hey rediscovered its fabulous properties for the object and furnishing sector in the mid-90s. With timeless designs and fresh colours, HEY-SIGN has significantly been responsible for wool feltbeing naturally integrated into the world of living, working and lifestyle.
In 2019, in order to ensure highest quality of the products for the future, HEY-SIGN has found a strong partner: HEY-SIGN belongs to the BWF Groupof companies now, a family-run business with a 123-year-old tradition in the production of wool felt, located in Offingen. At the same time, the HEY-SIGN founders placed the management of the company in the hands of Katharina Günther, a long-time HEY-SIGN employee. These two measures ensure that the creative work will continue with the same positive energy at the Meerbusch location.
Wool felt offers endless creative design opportunities. All HEY-SIGN felt products convince with good design and great attention to detail. The current product range contains about 250 articles from home accessories such as cushions, boxes and table decorations through furniture and seat covers up to room dividers, luminaires and carpets, available in four different material thicknesses and more than 40 modern colours.
For the realisation of contemporary interior design concepts in private, public and commercial sectors wool felt is an ideal material: It is permeable to air, resistant to abrasion and deformation. It is easy to maintain and durable, sound-absorbing, provides a pleasant room climate and good acoustics. HEY-SIGN uses these natural benefits and realises individual, custom-made solutions as well as special cuts for interior designers, architects and corporate clients. In the production hall felt dominates the scenery too. It goes without saying that the employees are surrounded by felt. After cutting the felt by CNC, all the following production steps are carried out by using traditional handcrafted methods: from stamping, sewing and weaving to the packaging of goods.
